According to Newsday, the fire was first reported at 6:48 p.m., and crews quickly upgraded it to a three-alarm incident as they encountered flames on multiple floors. County officials said roughly 150 firefighters from Island Park and neighboring departments responded, and it took about 70 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Jordan Lobster Farms, a bayside seafood market and restaurant well known to Long Islanders, operates a clam bar, market and outdoor bar at the site. Local coverage noted the restaurant was serving guests when the fire started and that no injuries were reported, according to Patch.

Nassau County fire officials and the Nassau County Police Department’s arson squad have opened an investigation into the cause, county authorities told Newsday. As of Saturday night, authorities had not released a full damage assessment.

Video shared by local fire-watch groups showed thick smoke billowing as crews attacked the flames, and mutual aid reportedly came from Long Beach, Freeport, Oceanside, East Rockaway, Lynbrook, Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Point Lookout Lido departments. Patch and local onlookers posted footage of the response as firefighters worked to extinguish hotspots.
