Lake Nona’s three-story Drive Shack is suddenly dark, with the flagship entertainment golf complex that opened in 2018 now shut down and silent. The abrupt closure wipes out a big late-night hangout, event space, and group-booking magnet in the neighborhood’s sports-and-performance corridor.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, the Lake Nona venue, billed as Drive Shack’s flagship since 2018, was closed as the parent company faces mounting financial pressure. That reporting notes the company logged significant losses in its latest filings, even as certain revenue lines ticked up.
Parent company earnings send mixed signals
In a May earnings release, Golf Entertainment Group Inc., the public company behind Drive Shack, reported total revenue of $76.6 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2026, and said it wrapped the period with roughly $34.9 million in cash and restricted cash. The company’s Q1 statement also notes it currently operates three Drive Shack venues and is pursuing portfolio-optimization initiatives aimed at improving profitability.
Lake Nona loses a high-profile amenity
Drive Shack had been promoted as a marquee attraction in Tavistock’s Lake Nona district, helping draw weekend crowds, corporate groups, and late-night diners to the sports-and-performance neighborhood. Community materials for the development highlight the venue as one of Lake Nona’s signature amenities. Lake Nona’s fact sheet
Now, visitor directories and booking sites list the Lake Nona facility as permanently closed, a strong hint that this is not a quick renovation break. Tripadvisor’s listing and other online directories currently show the Orlando location as closed.
What happens to the site now
What comes next for the vacant Lake Nona space is still an open question. It is not yet clear whether the venue will be re-let, reimagined, or left in limbo. The company’s investor news feed has so far stayed quiet on the local shutdown. Drive Shack’s investor page features recent earnings materials but no public statement on the Orlando closure, leaving residents and commercial-watchers waiting for an official word on the future of the high-profile site.
