A Lakeland man has been sentenced to life in prison after a Polk County jury convicted him of killing his neighbor in a shooting nearly two years earlier, bringing a bitter stretch of neighbor disputes on Fleming Avenue to a deadly close.
Jurors found Clinton Robinson guilty of first-degree murder, giving false information to a law enforcement officer and tampering with evidence. A judge then handed down a life sentence, according to Tampa Bay 28.
Shooting on Fleming Avenue
Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded on Sept. 10, 2024, after reports of gunfire and found the victim in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses later told investigators they saw Robinson walk up to the victim, noticed smoke coming from a firearm and heard him say, “How do you like me now?,” according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Aftermath and Trial
Investigators say Robinson left the scene in a white SUV and that the firearm was never recovered, though deputies later located him at his home. Jurors ultimately convicted him on all counts, and he received a life sentence at disposition, as reported by Tampa Bay 28.
Neighbors and Community
Neighbors told reporters the two men had a history of disputes, a backdrop prosecutors highlighted during trial. Community members and law enforcement said the case, which began as an ongoing neighborhood argument and ended in a life sentence, is a stark reminder of how recurring local tensions can spiral into deadly violence, as reported by ClickOrlando.
