A late-night crash near Interstate 30 in east Fort Worth sent three children to the hospital last Saturday, leaving families anxious and investigators working to sort out what went wrong.
Officers were called around 11:15 p.m. to the 1200 block of Woodhaven Boulevard, just north of I-30, where they found a vehicle with multiple occupants involved in a collision. Three children were taken to a local hospital. Police said two suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the third child was far more seriously hurt, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Authorities described the third juvenile's wounds as "serious, possibly life-threatening injuries," Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Police have not released the children's ages, their identities, or any update on their conditions, and officials say the investigation into what caused the crash remains ongoing.
Why child passenger safety matters
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, and correctly used child restraints significantly cut the risk of death and serious harm, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notes that properly used child seats can lower fatalities for infants by roughly 71% and reduce serious injuries for toddlers and young children, underscoring how crucial it is to use age and size-appropriate restraints. Parents can find official guidance on car seat installation and booster-seat use from government safety resources.
This story will be updated if Fort Worth police release more information about the crash or the children's conditions.
