A late-night shooting on Kinston’s south side left a 21-year-old man seriously wounded Sunday, and police say multiple suspects are already in custody as the case moves forward. Officers were called just before midnight, at about 11:37 p.m. on June 28, to 316 South Davis Street, where they found the victim and began life-saving aid before he was taken to ECU Health in Greenville. The man, identified by police as Andre Hall, remains in serious condition while detectives continue to work the case and track additional suspects.
In a Facebook update, the Kinston Police Department said B-Squad officers arrived to find Hall suffering from a gunshot wound, and that Lenoir County EMS rushed him to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. The department added that investigators are actively working leads and following up on evidence.
Arrests and charges
According to the department’s post, detectives have already identified multiple suspects and say “additional arrests are expected.” Police named Que’vion Patton as one person taken into custody, alleging he faces serious violent felony counts, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with related assault and conspiracy charges. Two others, Zaire Corbitt and Dexter Washington, were arrested on weapons-related counts after officers alleged they were involved in possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a concealed weapon. The Kinston Police Department Facebook update serves as the agency’s initial public account of the arrests.
How to help
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Kinston Police Department tips line at 252-939-4020 or Kinston-Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444, or to submit a tip through the department’s iWITNESS portal. The city’s KPD iWITNESS page lists the tips line and Crime Stoppers number and explains how to share photos, video, or other evidence securely. KPD iWITNESS is described as the department’s preferred method for anonymous submissions.
Neighborhood context
The latest shooting lands in the middle of a worrying stretch of gun violence in and around Kinston. Earlier this spring, investigators handled a separate fatal overnight shooting at a local housing complex, part of a series of cases where officers have urged neighbors to step forward with tips and evidence. Local station WITN reported on that April homicide investigation.
Investigation status
The Kinston Police Department says the investigation into Hall’s shooting remains active, with detectives expected to present their findings to the Lenoir County District Attorney’s Office as the case progresses. Officials are asking the public to avoid speculation while they continue interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence tied to the incident.
