A quiet stretch of North Main Street in Manheim Borough turned into a crime scene early Monday after a woman was found shot to death inside a downtown home. Police say the killing was domestic-related and have launched a search for a suspect they warn may be armed and dangerous, leaving the small borough on edge.
According to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, officers responded at 7:31 a.m. and later identified the victim as 37-year-old Keshia M. Gonzalez. The office's statement names 36-year-old Michael Anthony Boccia as a person of interest and says investigators believe he may be armed and may live in York City. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or the Manheim Police Department at 717-665-2481.
Neighbor Rosemarie Hoffman told WGAL she heard two gunshots around 7 a.m. and ran downstairs to find Gonzalez on the floor. Hoffman said she tried to perform CPR, but Gonzalez did not survive after being shot twice in the face. She described the victim as a single mother of two school-aged children.
Vehicle, warrant and safety warning
Manheim Borough police told the Daily Voice that an arrest warrant has been issued for Boccia, who was last seen driving a maroon 2013 Toyota Avalon with Pennsylvania license plate MWE1562. Authorities say he should not be approached under any circumstances and ask anyone who sees the vehicle or Boccia to call 911 immediately.
Investigators and community response
Lancaster County detectives are assisting Manheim Borough police as investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office. Local coverage notes the shooting is the borough's first homicide in decades, and neighbors say the normally quiet downtown block is shaken as detectives canvass for tips. Officials say more details will be released as the investigation continues.
Legal note
Authorities say Boccia is being sought in connection with a homicide investigation. No conviction has been recorded, and anyone accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Police again urge anyone with information to call the Manheim Police Department at 717-665-2481 or 911, and note that tips can also be submitted anonymously through local Crime Stoppers programs.
