Houston robbery detectives are trying to put a name to a masked gunman who held up a store on the 90th block of East Edgebrook Drive on May 18, then ran toward nearby apartments with cash from the register, according to investigators. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest.
What police released
As detailed in a June 29 entry on the Houston Police Department's Robbery Division blog, the holdup happened at about 11:50 p.m. Investigators say the suspect pulled a long-sleeve shirt over his face, produced a firearm, jumped the counter and grabbed money from the cash register before bolting from the store.
The post describes the suspect as a Black male between 18 and 25 years old with a skinny build and "puffy" hair. Detectives say he ran west from the business toward nearby apartment complexes. They are asking anyone who recognizes the person in the released images to come forward.

Crime‑Stoppers of Houston says tipsters can remain anonymous and may receive a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest, according to the organization's guidance. The notice directs anyone with information to call Crime‑Stoppers at 713‑222‑TIPS (8477) or to submit an anonymous report online at Crime‑Stoppers of Houston.
The Houston Police Department's Robbery Division can also be reached through the department's robbery page at Houston Police Robbery Division.
Why 'aggravated' matters
Under Texas law, a robbery becomes aggravated robbery when a deadly weapon is used or a victim suffers serious bodily injury. That elevates the offense to a first‑degree felony that prosecutors treat seriously. The definition is set out in Texas Penal Code §29.03, which guides potential penalties if charges are filed.
How this fits locally
The Robbery Division has pushed out several wanted alerts in recent weeks, leaning on public tips and surveillance images to close cases. One mid‑May notice about a Wirt Road incident also carried a $5,000 tip incentive and was covered in a report on the Wirt Road robber. Detectives say timely community tips often make the difference in identifying suspects in store holdups.
Anyone with information about the Edgebrook case (HPD case No. 634762‑26) is asked to contact Crime‑Stoppers at 713‑222‑TIPS or the Robbery Division at 713‑308‑0700. Tipsters whose information leads to an arrest may be eligible for the advertised reward.
