
A quiet Norwood block turned into a crime scene just after midnight Monday when a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed near East 207th Street and Decatur Avenue. Neighbors watched as officers shut down the area, combed the sidewalk for evidence, and spoke to shaken residents while the victim was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later died.
What police say
According to investigators, officers responded to a 12:08 a.m. call about an assault at East 207th Street and Decatur Avenue. When they arrived, they found a 23-year-old man with several gunshot wounds to his torso. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and did not survive, as reported by News 12 New York.
Scene and suspects
Detectives left more than 10 evidence markers scattered across the pavement while documenting the scene. A neighborhood outlet reported that two men are believed to have carried out the shooting, then sped off in a black BMW heading north on Parkside Avenue, according to Norwood News. No arrests have been announced, and NYPD detectives say the investigation remains active.
