Authorities say an Orlando assisted living worker crossed a serious line of trust when she allegedly turned a 75-year-old resident’s debit card into her own personal bank account. The nursing assistant was arrested this month after detectives reported a string of ATM withdrawals and store purchases totaling just under $1,900, and records show she has been charged and released on bond.

Court records identify 56-year-old Sabine Perrin as the suspect and say she worked at Sweet Water of Orlando. According to WESH, Perrin faces six counts of fraudulent use of credit cards and a theft charge for taking between $300 and $10,000 from a person 65 or older. Investigators say the resident’s debit card was used to withdraw $1,853.75 between March 18 and March 24 at locations including TD Bank, Publix and Walgreens.

Detectives interviewed Perrin on April 30 and say surveillance video showed an SUV tied to her at one of the TD Bank ATM withdrawals. The affidavit quoted by WESH says Perrin told detectives she did not know how she ended up with the alleged victim's card and that she said she was sorry. An arrest warrant was executed on June 8, and records show Perrin posted a $12,500 bond.

Charges And The Law

State statutes separate credit card crimes from elder exploitation offenses, and penalties depend on the dollar amounts and number of incidents. Florida's credit card statutes spell out when unlawful use is treated as a misdemeanor or escalates to a third-degree felony, and Chapter 825 covers exploitation of an elderly person or disabled adult with its own enhanced penalties. See the statutes for details. Florida Senate and the Florida Legislature explain how charges and penalties are applied.

Where This Happened

The alleged victim is a 75-year-old resident of Sweet Water of Orlando, which is listed at 8207 Forest City Road in Orlando. Facility listings confirm the community's location and licensing details, and family members and neighbors often lean on such records when a resident's finances are in question. Assisted Living Center shows the Sweet Water address and contact information.

What Comes Next

Perrin's case will move through the county court system. If prosecutors file formal charges, she will be arraigned, and the state will decide whether to pursue felony counts. Court records also reference a separate arrest of a 59-year-old, Darren Carson, on two counts of attempted fraudulent use of credit cards below $100 in what investigators described as related activity.

Investigators and prosecutors typically weigh evidence from surveillance, bank records, and witness statements before seeking trial, and elder exploitation allegations can draw added scrutiny because of the victim's age and vulnerability. Anyone with information about the withdrawals or the incidents described in court records is usually asked to contact Orange County law enforcement or the local prosecutor’s office so investigators can complete the record.
