A Palmdale skateboarder was left in critical condition Monday after a driver allegedly steered a car straight into him, according to deputies. The collision happened near 6th Street East and Avenue Q‑12 and was caught on nearby surveillance cameras.
Surveillance video posted by the LA County Sheriff's Department shows a white Toyota Corolla speeding southbound, crossing into oncoming lanes and steering toward the skateboarder. Investigators say the driver appeared to hit the brakes but still slammed into the victim, who was thrown into the car’s windshield. The driver then took off without rendering aid and was later taken into custody. Detectives are calling the crash “an intentional assault with a deadly weapon.”
What investigators found
Palmdale Sheriff Station deputies rushed to the scene, and Deputy Barrios and Detective Martinez pulled surveillance footage and canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses. The department says the suspect is in custody and faces an attempted murder charge, and investigators believe the attack was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public.
