
A resident who was pulled unconscious from a raging fire in a multi-family home on High Street in Peekskill on Wednesday evening has died, authorities said. Firefighters found the victim on the second floor, performed CPR at the scene and rushed them to NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
The City of Peekskill Fire Department said crews were dispatched to 115 High St. after reports of people trapped inside. According to Daily Voice, firefighters arrived within about two minutes to find heavy fire conditions and immediately launched a search of the building. They located an unconscious person on the second floor, brought the victim outside and began CPR before transport to the hospital.

News 12 New York reported that the victim was pulled from the second floor of the home and taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, where they later died. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Officials said the Peekskill Fire Department is working with the Westchester County Cause and Origin Team and the Peekskill Police Department to determine what sparked the blaze.
