An early-morning armed robbery jolted Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood on Monday, after two suspects held a clerk at gunpoint inside a 7-Eleven around 4:30 a.m. near West Garfield Street and Queen Anne Avenue North. Seattle police responded to the scene and detectives have launched an active investigation into the holdup.
According to FOX 13 Seattle, officers said the pair forced the clerk to hand over cash before taking off. Store surveillance video has been turned over to investigators, and reporter Shawn Chitnis was on site speaking with officers as they worked the case. As of that report, no arrests had been made, and detectives were looking into whether the robbery might be connected to a nearby crime.
Where it happened
The robbery took place at the 7-Eleven located at 1607 Queen Anne Ave N, near the intersection of West Garfield Street and Queen Anne Avenue North. The address is listed on the chain’s 7-Eleven site and matches the store where officers were working early Monday.
Context
Detectives are reviewing the incident in light of a stretch of overnight convenience-store robberies that have surfaced across Seattle this spring. KIRO 7 covered a string of armed robberies in April that hit multiple locations, and local outlets have since reported on additional robberies in other neighborhoods.
