Robinson & Cole, an Am Law 200 firm, is staking a bigger claim in Center City, expanding its Philadelphia office at One Liberty Place by roughly 60% to about 12,400 square feet. The firm marked the move with a June 3 ribbon-cutting and locked in an extended lease at the Market Street tower through June 2033, giving it room to grow its local roster. The refreshed space is tailored to hybrid work and built to support up to 20 attorneys and professionals.
In a press release, Robinson+Cole said it expanded its footprint in the building from about 7,800 square feet to 12,400 square feet and celebrated the upgrade with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The firm describes One Liberty Place at 1650 Market Street as a Class A+ trophy office tower and notes that the redesigned office includes sit-to-stand desks, availability-based lighting, app-based room reservations and an office café aimed at boosting collaboration.
Room To Grow In Center City
Philadelphia Business Journal reports that the lease expansion gives Robinson & Cole enough space to more than double its current attorney headcount in Philadelphia. That added capacity offers flexibility to build out practice groups and recruit lateral hires as the firm looks to deepen its local work in areas that include bankruptcy, data privacy and immigration.
Why The Timing Matters
According to Colliers' Q1 2026 regional office report, higher-quality downtown space in Philadelphia has been tightening as tenants show more willingness to upgrade. Against that backdrop, a newly refreshed office in a high-profile Center City tower lines up with the broader "flight-to-quality" trend that has been pulling more activity into top-tier buildings.
Part Of A Broader Expansion Push
The Philadelphia buildout fits into a larger expansion pattern for Robinson & Cole and other firms chasing premium urban space. Earlier this spring, Commercial Observer reported that Robinson & Cole signed a substantial lease at 100 Park Avenue in New York, signaling a multi-market push. In its own release, Robinson+Cole said the redesigned Philadelphia office is intended to support continued growth and align with the firm’s hybrid-forward workplace model.
For Center City, the move is a modest but visible vote of confidence in downtown as a place where professional services firms still want to hire, meet clients and plant a flag. Robinson & Cole has not laid out specific hiring targets for Philadelphia, but the extra room at One Liberty Place clearly leaves the door open for future growth.
