Yesterday afternoon, a fire at Rocky River Brewing Company abruptly cleared out the longtime neighborhood spot, sending staff and customers into the parking lot and shutting the doors early. Rocky River Fire Department crews swarmed the building while police blocked Center Ridge Road, and employees clustered outside watching as firefighters worked the scene. The brewpub stayed closed for the rest of the day.
According to News 5 Cleveland, firefighters were able to knock down the flames, and crews remained on site to investigate the cause. The station reported that traffic near the plaza was diverted while its team gathered details from the scene.
Backstory
The timing of the incident is especially rough. The fire comes almost exactly a year after a roof blaze on June 24, 2025, that shut the brewpub down for an extended stretch. The restaurant had only recently returned to service after repairs and upgrades, per a report on its rise from a $3 million fire. WOIO/Cleveland 19 reported that the 2025 blaze began during roofing work, caused roughly $3 million in damage, and led to two firefighters being treated after that earlier incident.
Inside the comeback
Owner Gary Cintron told Cleveland Scene he used the downtime after the 2025 fire to overhaul the space, replacing floors, beer lines, and fixtures. He said he was grateful to be pouring again, even if he would rather have skipped the ordeal entirely, explaining, "I'd go back and forego the fire if I could." The comeback also featured a new head brewer and a refreshed tap list that had regulars eyeing the patio for summer nights.
Officials and next steps
The Rocky River Fire Department has not yet released a cause in the latest incident, and officials said they will share more information when it becomes available. News 5 Cleveland noted that crews remained on scene last night. For updates on hours and reopening, the brewpub is directing customers to check its website at Rocky River Brewing Co.
