His southbound Volkswagen struck a dump truck that was turning onto Old Route 32, and he later died while being treated at a Kingston hospital. The truck, operated by a 57-year-old Palenville man, was turning from Route 32 onto Old Route 32 when the vehicles collided. Goldberg was taken to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Saugerties Police Department, investigators from the New York State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team are assisting with the case. The department says the investigation remains open, and no charges are expected at this time. Route 32 Safety Concerns

Route 32 has long been a sore spot for some locals, who say particular stretches are prone to crashes, especially near Glasco Turnpike. Residents there have pushed for a traffic signal at what they consider a dangerous intersection. That history, detailed by Hudson Valley One, has fed ongoing worries about safety along the corridor, concerns that officials sometimes revisit when reviewing collision data.
