A quiet Friday evening at a New Hope Housing complex in Sharpstown turned deadly when a woman was shot and killed outside her home, and Houston police say the gunman is still on the run.
Officers were called to the property in the 6000 block of Dale Carnegie Lane around 8 p.m., where they found the woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body, according to investigators. Detectives say the suspected shooter was the victim's boyfriend, who also lived at the complex, and that he took off before officers arrived.
Houston Police Department homicide investigators are now combing through surveillance video as they work to track down the suspect and piece together what led up to the shooting, according to ABC13. Police have not yet released the names of either the victim or the suspect.
Where It Happened: The Dale Carnegie Community
The killing took place at New Hope Housing's Dale Carnegie site, a 170-unit supportive housing development in Sharpstown, according to New Hope Housing. The nonprofit describes the property as a community of studio apartments with on-site services for people with low incomes, located near the southeast corner of Dale Carnegie Lane and Regency Square Boulevard.
