Baltimore is about to lose one of its top hospital executives. Amy Shlossman, president of Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center, will leave LifeBridge Health this summer to become executive vice president and chief executive officer of Oregon Health & Science University Health in Portland. She is slated to start at OHSU on Aug. 31, 2026, a move that sends the high-profile Sinai leader back to the West Coast after three years overseeing Sinai and the system’s West Baltimore campus.

LifeBridge names interim leader

In a June 12 news release, LifeBridge Health announced that Leslie Simmons, the system’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, will step in as interim president of Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center while a national search gets underway. "Amy’s leadership has strengthened Sinai and Grace, making a lasting difference in the communities we serve," Simmons said in the statement.

Shlossman's Baltimore record

Since joining LifeBridge in July 2023, Shlossman has been credited with steering a slate of big-ticket capital and community projects. According to the Maryland Daily Record, her portfolio in Baltimore includes a 61.6 million dollar transformation of Grace Medical Center, a 50 million dollar expansion and renovation of Sinai’s emergency department, and the 125,000 square foot Mandy & Dennis Weinman Cancer Building that is set to open this summer. She also helped lead the opening of The Factory, a West Baltimore opportunity center focused on workforce development, food access, and population health.

OHSU appointment and start date

Oregon Health & Science University said it chose Shlossman to oversee its hospital and clinic operations after a national search, and her first day is scheduled for Aug. 31, 2026, as reported by Becker's Hospital Review. Her resume already includes senior operational roles at Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix, along with an earlier stint as CEO of the American Red Cross in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Portland leadership context

The hire lands during a stretch of leadership churn at OHSU. Local reporting notes the system has cycled through interim and short-lived chiefs in recent months, raising the stakes for a steadier hand on operations, according to Willamette Week. Shlossman’s West Coast background was highlighted as a strategic fit for the university and its regional role.

What's next for Sinai

LifeBridge said Simmons will guide both Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center through the leadership transition while the national search moves forward, and the system’s newsroom is already promoting community events tied to the new cancer building. The Weinman Cancer Building open house is scheduled for June 30, according to LifeBridge Health.
