Police say a roadside confrontation in Glen Burnie turned brutal Wednesday night when a driver was knocked unconscious with a tire iron on the 7000 block of Ritchie Highway. Officers arrived to find a 58-year-old man unresponsive with a head injury while a good Samaritan performed CPR. Witnesses told police the victim had been struck in the head with a tire iron and that the attacker fled before officers arrived.
With help from people who saw the violence unfold, Anne Arundel County police tracked down 40-year-old Brandon La Mar Harmon and took him into custody, charging him in connection with the beating. A motive is still unclear and remains under investigation, according to WMAR-2 News.
How the scene unfolded
According to witnesses, it started as an argument between drivers in the parking lot that spiraled into a physical attack ending with the tire iron strike. Bystanders chased the fleeing suspect and helped officers take him into custody while medics treated the victim at the scene.
Road-rage pattern in Anne Arundel
The case is the latest in a series of road-rage flare-ups rattling Anne Arundel County. In November 2024, a separate confrontation in Glen Burnie turned deadly, a fatal road-rage fight in Glen Burnie previously covered by Hoodline. The repeat episodes have raised fresh concerns about how quickly tempers behind the wheel can spill over into serious violence on local roads.
Police plea for information
Detectives say the investigation remains active and are asking anyone who witnessed the attack or has video of what happened to contact Northern District detectives at 410-222-6135 or the Anne Arundel County police tip line at 410-222-4700, according to a news release from Anne Arundel County Police. WMAR-2 News also reports that while Harmon has been charged, authorities have not yet released the specific complaint filed against him.
Legal note
