Two Milwaukee teenagers were wounded in separate shootings on the city’s west and northwest sides Saturday evening, with both now expected to survive. Detectives are working two parallel cases and urging neighbors to check doorbell cameras and any other security footage that might help them track down whoever pulled the triggers.
What happened
The first shooting unfolded on the 3800 block of W Wright Street at about 6:48 p.m., when a 16-year-old was hit by gunfire. Roughly eight minutes later, around 6:56 p.m., officers were called to a second scene on the 5700 block of N 76th Street, where an 18-year-old was shot. Police described both teens’ injuries as non-life-threatening. Each was taken to a local hospital for treatment as investigators began working to identify suspects and track down witnesses, according to TMJ4.
How to tip investigators
Police are asking anyone with information, video or photos from around the time of the shootings to come forward. Tips can be shared directly with the Milwaukee Police Department or sent anonymously through Crime Stoppers’ P3 Tips app. The system scrambles caller information and assigns a tip code so people can stay anonymous while still following up on their submissions, according to CBS58.
Citywide context
The back-to-back teen shootings landed on an already busy weekend for Milwaukee police, with officers responding to a string of unrelated shootings across the city. Investigators have been canvassing neighborhoods and combing through surveillance video in multiple open cases, a broader effort that underscores how even a few seconds of footage can be critical in pinning down suspects, as reported in a triple-shooting spree before noon.
Both teen shooting investigations remain active, and police say they will release more information as leads develop, according to TMJ4. Anyone who might have seen something, heard something, or captured something on camera is urged to contact the Milwaukee Police tip line or Crime Stoppers.
