
A 39-year-old man was stabbed twice in the back on Allerton Avenue Tuesday night, rattling neighbors and sending police canvassing the busy corridor. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover, according to authorities. Detectives say no arrests have been made and the investigation is still underway.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 771 Allerton Ave just before 7:30 p.m. and found the victim with two stab wounds to his back, according to News 12 New York. EMS transported him to a local hospital, and the outlet reports he is expected to be OK. Investigators told the outlet the violence appears to have started as a verbal dispute that escalated.

The Allerton Avenue commercial strip has been the backdrop for other high-profile violence in recent years, underscoring how quickly tensions can boil over. In 2018, multiple people were shot and two others were stabbed along the corridor, according to the Bronx Times.
