Polaris is getting a major flavor upgrade this summer as Bombay House, a family-run upscale Indian restaurant, prepares to move into the former Winking Lizard spot with a pan-India menu, Mumbai street-food favorites, and a full bar built for handcrafted cocktails.
Family-run concept heads to Polaris
Columbus Business First reports that Bombay House will take over part of the old Winking Lizard at 496 Polaris Parkway and turn it into a sit-down restaurant. The project is led by the Kondhare family, which moved to the area several years ago and plans to rework the large space into a destination for both dining and drinks.
Pan-India menu with Mumbai street food
According to The Columbus Dispatch, the menu will spotlight Mumbai street-food hits like vada pav, misal pav, and pav bhaji, alongside a broader lineup of regional Indian dishes cooked by chefs recruited from across India. The Dispatch also notes that the team plans to bring in spices and specialty ingredients from around the globe to keep flavors as true to their roots as possible.
Bar program, staffing and timeline
The restaurant is planning a full bar with an emphasis on handcrafted cocktails, and it is already hiring hosts, servers, and kitchen staff for the Polaris location. Listings peg the address at 496 Polaris Parkway and target a late June or early July opening, according to job postings on Indeed.
Why Polaris?
Polaris is one of central Ohio’s biggest magnets for shopping and dining, pulling in both office workers and suburban crowds from across north Columbus. The arrival of an upscale Indian restaurant adds a higher-end South Asian option to the corridor and broadens the choices for diners in the fast-growing area, per Experience Columbus.
