A Saturday night noise complaint on San Antonio’s Northwest Side escalated into a stabbing that landed one man in the hospital and another in handcuffs, according to police.
San Antonio officers were called to the 4800 block of Gus Eckert Road around 9:40 p.m., where they found a 30-year-old man injured and a 33-year-old man detained at the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital, and officers held the alleged attacker while they sorted out what happened.
Investigators say the conflict started when the 33-year-old suspect went to his neighbor’s door to complain about loud noise. According to police, the victim’s dog ran out and was kicked, which quickly turned a hallway argument into a physical fight. During that scuffle, authorities say the suspect hit the victim multiple times with a knife. He was arrested at the scene and now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, WOAI reported.
Where It Happened And Recent Calls
The stretch of Gus Eckert Road on the Northwest Side has seen its share of police activity in recent years, often near apartment complexes. In May, KSAT reported arrests linked to a mail-theft investigation at an apartment complex on Gus Eckert, and the outlet has also covered a 2024 shooting in the nearby 4900 block.
Those earlier cases, while unrelated, underscore how quickly seemingly routine neighborhood issues in the area can draw a law-enforcement response.
What The Charge Means
The suspect was booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony-level offense when a weapon is involved or the victim suffers serious bodily injury. Under Texas Penal Code Section 22.02, an assault becomes aggravated assault if the person “uses or exhibits a deadly weapon” or causes serious bodily injury. Penalties can vary based on the specific facts and any enhancements that apply. The full statute and potential enhancements are detailed in the Texas Penal Code.
What Comes Next
San Antonio police located both men at the scene and detained the suspect while paramedics took the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment, WOAI reported. The case was logged as an aggravated-assault-with-a-deadly-weapon incident.
The suspect’s name was not released in the initial reports. The case is expected to move through the standard booking procedures and prosecutorial review process in the coming days.
