
A 23-year-old Brandywine man was killed Monday afternoon in a violent head-on crash on Croom Road in the unincorporated part of Upper Marlboro, shutting down the rural two-lane stretch as first responders raced to the scene. Prince George’s County police identified the driver as Juan Hawkins, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was rushed to a hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation. The department said preliminary findings indicate the two vehicles collided head-on while traveling along Croom Road. Investigators have not yet released details on any possible contributing factors.

In a Facebook update, the Prince George's County Police Department said the collision happened around 3:30 p.m. on July 6 in the 11900 block of Croom Road. The case has been assigned number 26-0035963, and investigators are asking anyone with information or video from the area to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422. The department said the cause of the crash remains under active investigation.
