An Endangered Missing Advisory for an 8-year-old boy in East Los Angeles was called off Wednesday after authorities located both the child and the suspect, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The boy, identified as Aizen Alek Sanchez, had been reported missing after he was seen with 36-year-old Decky Sanchez on Sunday afternoon. Deputies did not immediately share where or when the pair were found, keeping key details of the recovery under wraps for now.

How the alert unfolded

As reported by MyNewsLA, the California Highway Patrol activated an Endangered Missing Advisory on Tuesday at the request of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The alert went out across several Southern California counties while law enforcement searched for the boy and the man identified as a suspect.

Where and when they were last seen

Detectives told KFI/City News Service that Aizen and Decky were last seen Sunday at about 4 p.m. in the 5900 block of Northside Drive near Easton Street in an unincorporated area near East Los Angeles.

Aizen was described as about 4 feet tall and 80 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white shirt and olive-gray shorts. Decky Sanchez was described as roughly 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 185 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his face. He was last seen wearing a black-and-blue shirt and blue jeans.

What an Endangered Missing Advisory means

According to the California Highway Patrol, an Endangered Missing Advisory is used to help locate a child or other endangered person who is believed to be in danger and unable to care for themselves. MyNewsLA reported that deputies did not disclose whether Decky was taken into custody or provide specifics about when or where the two were located.
