A crash on Cleveland’s East Side turned serious Wednesday afternoon when a car slammed into a building on Euclid Avenue, leaving a woman in her 60s in critical condition and sending police and paramedics rushing to the scene.
What happened
According to Cleveland 19, EMS confirmed that paramedics responded to the collision at 17715 Euclid Avenue and took the woman to University Hospitals, where she was listed in critical condition. The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is handling the case.

Pattern of similar crashes
Vehicle-into-building crashes are not unheard of in the region and have led to serious injuries before, sometimes forcing firefighters to stabilize damaged structures and coordinate with utility crews to secure gas and electric lines. For context, News 5 Cleveland previously reported on an East Side crash that left multiple people in critical condition, a reminder of how dangerous these incidents can be for both occupants and anyone nearby.
Typically, first responders treat victims at the scene and clear immediate hazards before investigators move in to examine the wreckage and piece together what went wrong.
Investigation ongoing
Police say the Accident Investigation Unit is working to determine how the Euclid Avenue crash happened, and no further details have been released. Neighbors and nearby businesses around 17715 Euclid Avenue can expect investigators to remain in the area as officials assess any building damage and collect evidence.
