A 46-year-old Granville County man wanted on kidnapping and robbery charges was pulled out of his own attic on Thursday, after deputies searching his Stem home found him hiding overhead, according to authorities. The man, identified by law enforcement as Ryan Scott, was arrested and taken to Durham County, where he is being held without bond ahead of an initial court appearance set for Monday, July 6.
Deputies had gone to Scott’s residence with a search warrant and ultimately located him in the attic, according to WRAL. Search-warrant affidavits cited in that report allege Scott broke into a home, kidnapped a man and carried out an armed robbery in which cash was taken.
Booked in Durham County Detention Facility
After the arrest, Scott was turned over to Durham police and booked into the Durham County Detention Facility, the county’s central jail for people awaiting court dates. The facility routinely holds individuals arrested in Durham and nearby jurisdictions while they wait for their first appearances before a judge.
Charges Listed in Warrants
According to WRAL, warrants list 13 counts against Scott, including kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking and entering to terrorize or injure, intimidating a witness and assault by pointing a gun. WRAL reports he is being held without bond while he waits for arraignment.
