
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man pulled from the Lavaca River south of Edna as 34-year-old David Ricardo Sanchez of Houston. The remains were recovered in early May, and the sheriff’s office says the case is being investigated jointly with the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Marshals Service. Officials have not released a cause or manner of death while the medical examiner’s work continues.
The body was discovered on May 2 along County Road 311 near Malone Bridge after a passerby reported remains in the water, according to Jackson County News. Sheriff Rick Boone told the newspaper that deputies estimated the person had been in the river for several days and that the decedent did not initially appear to be a Jackson County resident. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information to contact dispatch at 361-782-3541, per the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office website.
