A Hudson mother is facing a stack of DUI charges after troopers say she plowed a sedan into the outside wall of a chiropractic clinic, then threw it in reverse and hit a Pasco County deputy’s SUV, all while her two young children sat in the back seat. The driver, identified by troopers as 32-year-old Kari Roumeliotis, was booked into the Pasco County Jail on multiple DUI-related counts. According to the arrest report, the children were not seriously hurt and were released to their father.
How Troopers Say The Late-Night Stop Went Sideways
As reported by FOX 13 Tampa Bay, the traffic stop started shortly before 3 a.m. when a deputy spotted a Kia blow through a stop sign and repeatedly speed up and slow down on northbound U.S. 19. Troopers say the sedan pulled into the parking lot of Hudson Chiropractic and Rehabilitation on Old Dixie Highway, struck the building, then backed into the deputy's patrol SUV. The rear of the sedan was crushed, while the patrol vehicle came away with only minor damage.
According to troopers, there were three passengers in the car: Roumeliotis' boyfriend in the front seat and the couple's 9-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter in the back. The children were later turned over to their father, the arrest report states.
Breath Tests, Prior DUI And The Arrest
Investigators say Roumeliotis first refused to take a breath test, then later agreed and provided two samples that registered 0.134 and 0.140. She was booked on counts that include DUI with a breath alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, two counts of DUI with a passenger under 18, DUI involving a crash with property damage, and driving while license suspended with knowledge, according to FOX 13 Tampa Bay.
The investigating deputy wrote that Roumeliotis had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. According to the report, she remarked that the test results would "probably be the same as last time." Troopers also told investigators that Roumeliotis was convicted of DUI in Pasco County in December 2025 and that her driver’s license had been revoked. The Florida Highway Patrol said it submitted a new report to the Department of Children and Families.
Why Having Kids In The Car Raises The Stakes
Under Florida law, a breath or blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher is enough for a per-se DUI conviction, and having a passenger under 18 in the vehicle at the time of the offense is an aggravating factor that can increase fines, jail exposure and administrative penalties, as outlined in Florida Statute 316.193. That enhancement can bump first-offense maximum fines and jail terms, and can trigger ignition-interlock requirements and tougher license consequences.
Prosecutors in Pasco County will review the arrest report and decide whether to file formal charges.
What Comes Next In The Case
Roumeliotis remains in custody pending processing, and the case is still under investigation. Formal charges, arraignment dates and bond decisions will move through the Pasco County court system. According to troopers, the Florida Highway Patrol's arrest report formed the backbone of the case narrative, and investigators said they referred the incident to child-welfare officials for review.
