What started as a typical Thursday night in West Seattle’s Junction ended in a baffling mystery, after two men were found severely injured near Junction Plaza Park and later woke up with no memory of what happened.
The pair were discovered by passersby around 10:55 p.m. near the small park by 42nd Ave SW and SW Alaska. Both were rushed to the hospital with major head and leg injuries. A reader who later contacted West Seattle Blog said the men’s car and keys are missing and that neither victim can recall how they were hurt. Neighbors reported that the men had been at nearby Shadowland earlier in the evening.
Reader tip and police log
According to the reader report published by West Seattle Blog, anyone with information is asked to contact Seattle Police and reference report number 26-200420. The blog notes that Seattle Fire was dispatched to 42nd Ave SW and SW Alaska around the time the injured men were found. The post also shares a description of the missing vehicle and urges people who were out in The Junction that night to think back on what they saw, heard, or recorded.
Where it happened
Junction Plaza Park sits at 42nd Ave SW and SW Alaska, a compact pocket park in the Alaska Junction that often sees steady foot traffic from nearby restaurants and late-night bars, according to Seattle Parks and Recreation. The reader told West Seattle Blog that the men had been at Shadowland earlier that evening. Shadowland is a long-running neighborhood bar listed by the West Seattle Junction Association. With that mix of nightlife, side streets, and alleyways, neighbors are hoping someone checks their phone photos or videos and notices something that did not seem important at the time.
Victim descriptions and the missing car
In the note shared with West Seattle Blog, the reader described one man as about 6 feet tall with red hair, wearing a blue Junction FC jersey and black shorts. The second man is described as about 6 feet tall, bald, wearing a dark T-shirt with a faded logo and dark red cargo shorts.
The reader said the injuries include a skull fracture, a brain bleed, and a broken leg, and reiterated that the two men do not remember the events that led to their injuries. Their missing vehicle is described as a silver 2015 Toyota Corolla with Washington plate CMS6373. The reader urged anyone who might know where the car is, or what happened before it disappeared, to contact police.
