Fire crews rushed to a two-story duplex at 1556 E 51st St in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of Los Angeles on Monday morning after reports of smoke and fire. Firefighters pushed inside in an interior “offensive” attack to knock back light smoke showing from the building’s first floor, while other crews checked for extension and worked to secure the scene.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident was logged at 11:18 a.m., with first-arriving units reporting “light smoke showing” and operating in “offensive mode.” The department also shared the alert on X and listed a multi-unit South Bureau response, including companies from Fire Station 21.
On-Scene Response And Neighborhood Context
Central-Alameda has seen a string of house and duplex fires this year, and crews from FS21 show up frequently on local dispatch logs. A nearby incident on 47th Street drew a similar South Bureau response; see the earlier report on the smoky 47th Street house blaze.
The department’s initial alert did not list any injuries or a cause, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Investigators typically update the incident page as they learn more, and residents are asked to avoid the block while crews finish safety checks.
