
Friday evening turned violent in north Charlotte when gunfire near North Tryon Street and Matheson Avenue left two people with life-threatening injuries, according to officials. Emergency medics responded to the scene and rushed both victims to nearby hospitals.
Queen City News reported that the shooting was first called in around 7:55 p.m. Medic officials told the outlet that two people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening wounds, and as of the latest update no suspects had been identified.

The intersection sits just north of uptown in a stretch of north Charlotte that has already seen multiple shootings this year. In March, a separate shooting in the broader area left one person dead and several others injured, according to WFAE, highlighting a troubling pattern of sporadic violence along the corridor.

By early Saturday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had not released the names of the victims or identified any suspects, Queen City News reported. Investigators were still working to piece together what led up to the shooting and who might be responsible.
