A 40-year-old Sheboygan man was killed early Saturday, July 4, after his motorcycle left the roadway in the Town of Mosel. First responders worked to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
What officials say
The Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call around 4:20 a.m. for a single-motorcycle crash at Lakeshore Road and County Road MM, roughly halfway between Sheboygan and the Village of Cleveland. Investigators say the rider was heading north on Lakeshore Road when he lost control and went into a ditch on the west side of the road. Authorities are withholding his name until family has been notified, according to Sheboygan Press.
Emergency response and investigation
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office responded along with several area agencies, including Orange Cross Ambulance and the Howards Grove and Haven fire departments and first responders. Preliminary findings identified the motorcycle as a Honda, and the crash remains under investigation, as reported by FOX6 Milwaukee.
Local context
The Mosel crash is at least the latest deadly motorcycle wreck in Sheboygan County this spring. Another rider was killed in a crash in Lyndon in late May, according to WBAY. County officials say they will share more information after next of kin are notified and the investigation wraps up.
Investigation ongoing
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation and is asking anyone who might have information about the crash to contact the department. Crash reports typically become available through county records in the days following an incident, and authorities plan to provide updates to news outlets as details are confirmed, according to FOX6 Milwaukee.
