
A 56-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed on July 12, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. opposite 6661 Broadway in Riverdale, in a late-night attack police say left her injured and under medical care. According to investigators, an unknown suspect approached her from behind, put her in a chokehold, struck her in the face, forcibly touched her chest and tried to remove her clothing before grabbing her purse and running off on foot. Police say the victim was injured and the attack remains under investigation.

Police Seek Tips And Offer Reward
In a post on X, NYPD Crime Stoppers shared a wanted flyer on July 17 detailing the incident and asking the public for help identifying the suspect. According to the post, tips that lead to an arrest and indictment may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,500.

The attack occurred opposite 6661 Broadway in North Riverdale, within the boundaries of the NYPD's 50th Precinct. That precinct has reported increases in shootings and sex-crime complaints this year even as the city overall has seen a decline in major crimes, according to News 12.
