
Flames and heavy smoke poured from the roof of the Shipyard building in Canton on Sunday afternoon as Baltimore City firefighters worked to knock down a two-alarm blaze in the 2600 block of Boston Street. Neighbors gathered along nearby streets while multiple engine companies and ladder crews battled the fire. Officials had not immediately reported any injuries, and the cause of the fire remained unclear.
Fire crews called to Shipyard building
According to WBAL-TV, flames and smoke were visible from the rooftop as crews arrived, and the incident was quickly upgraded to a second alarm. The station reported that firefighters stayed on scene through the afternoon, remaining in active fireground operations along the 2600 block of Boston Street. WBAL-TV noted that, as crews continued their work, additional details had not yet been released.

As reported by WMAR-2 News, Baltimore Fire shared an update on X stating, "Units from the @BaltimoreFire are currently operating on the 2600 block of Boston Street for a second alarm of fire, Box Alarm 5-40," along with a photo from the scene. WMAR-2 News added that crews remained actively engaged at the site and that the cause of the blaze was still under investigation, with no immediate word of injuries.
