A 68-year-old man is expected to recover after he was struck multiple times in the head with a Razor scooter during a heated sidewalk confrontation in Crown Heights on Wednesday, an attack that has left neighbors rattled and police hunting for the assailant.
Police Seek Suspect
According to News12 New York, the clash unfolded around 9:30 a.m. in front of 1344 Lincoln Place when an argument escalated and one man grabbed a Razor scooter, using it to hit the 68-year-old several times in the head. EMS rushed the victim to Kings County Hospital, where he is expected to be OK.
Police say the attacker took off on foot, heading westbound on Lincoln Place toward Schenectady Avenue. Detectives are now asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect, and tipsters can contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), per the city’s Crime Stoppers page.
Lincoln Place Has Seen Recent Violence
The midweek scooter assault is only the latest violent episode along this stretch of Lincoln Place. In February, a daylight stickup outside 1299 Lincoln Place left a man shot, and in June a late-night sidewalk shooting on the block sent investigators back out canvassing for video and tips. In each case, local reporting and police bulletins have urged residents to comb through door-cam and phone footage for anything that might help crack the cases.
How To Help
As of Friday, police had not announced any arrests in the scooter assault and say the investigation is ongoing, News12 New York reports. Anyone who was nearby on Wednesday or who may have captured the confrontation on video is urged to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or submit an anonymous tip online through the city’s Crime Stoppers portal.
