Police said the collision happened just before 1 p.m. in the 13200 block of Smokey Point Boulevard and involved a Ford F-250 and a Chevrolet Suburban. Emergency crews pronounced the truck's driver dead at the scene and took several other people to nearby hospitals for evaluation.
Crash details and victims
According to KIRO 7, the 30-year-old woman riding in the pickup was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Suburban's driver, a 32-year-old Arlington woman, and her three children, an 8-year-old and two 1-year-olds, were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. Police identified the man who died by his age and city and said investigators are still working to determine how the crash unfolded.
Smokey Point safety work
The Smokey Point corridor has already been a focus of traffic safety efforts in recent years. The Washington Traffic Safety Commission lists 172nd and Smokey Point locations among project sites that combine stepped-up enforcement with community outreach. In its 2025 annual report, the commission highlights Walker and Roller safety grants in Snohomish County that are intended to curb risky driving through high-visibility enforcement and public education, with the goal of cutting serious injuries and fatalities on the county's busiest corridors.
Investigation underway
Marysville police closed nearby roads while the city's Collision Investigation Unit processed the crash scene and said those closures would remain in place while the work continues. As reported by KIRO 7, authorities have not released additional details about what caused the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Marysville Police Department.
