Nearly six years after Juordan Malik Hill was gunned down on a west Charlotte street, his family is still waiting for answers and is once again asking the public to help break the silence.

Hill was 20 years old when he was shot on Sept. 3, 2018, in the 2400 block of Pruitt Street. The case remains open, and relatives say they are still haunted by unanswered questions. They are pleading with anyone who might have video, photos or even small bits of information from that night to contact investigators.

According to WSOC-TV, family members renewed their appeal on Friday, standing alongside CMPD homicide detectives who again asked the public for leads. Detectives told the station they are especially interested in cellphone or door-camera video from the area and stressed that even brief clips could help move the case forward. WSOC-TV noted the family has kept steady pressure on the investigation in the years since Hill was killed.

What happened in 2018

On the night of Sept. 3, 2018, Hill was standing outside an apartment when someone opened fire, authorities said. He ran inside after the shots were fired, but was later pronounced dead.

Local coverage at the time said investigators were looking for a white, early-1990s Chevrolet Caprice seen leaving the scene and reported that authorities offered a reward that was later increased to about $7,000 for information leading to an arrest, according to WCCB. The Charlotte Observer reported that Hill had recently started a job with Novant before he was killed.

How to help

Anyone with information is asked to call the CMPD Homicide Unit tip line at 704-432-8477 (704-432-TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip with Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or through the P3 Tips app, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. More information on anonymous tips and rewards is available on the CMPD CrimeStoppers page.

Hill's family says they will keep pushing for answers, and detectives say even minor details or short video clips could be crucial to finally solving the case, the Charlotte Observer reported. Police continue to urge anyone who knows something to come forward so investigators can pursue new leads and, they hope, bring some measure of closure to Hill's loved ones.
