Benson Boone postponed his concert at Sacramento's Golden 1 Center less than an hour before he was set to take the stage on August 8, citing voice problems, and has now announced a new date of September 9 for the makeup show. Fans who had already bought tickets for the original date will be able to use them for the rescheduled performance.
Boone shared the update on his Instagram story, apologizing to fans who had traveled to attend the concert and saying he was disappointed by the postponement, according to the Sacramento Bee. The abrupt cancellation came just one night after Boone performed at San Jose's SAP Center on August 7 without any public sign of vocal distress, according to SAP Center. The San Jose stop was part of the same Northern California leg of his 2026 arena tour.
A Familiar Pattern of Last-Minute Cancellations
This isn't the first time vocal issues have forced Boone to scrap a show with almost no warning. In November 2025, he canceled a sold-out concert in Birmingham, England, less than an hour before showtime, after spending the afternoon attempting vocal recovery treatment, as reported by E! News. The Sacramento postponement marks the second time this kind of sudden delay has disrupted one of his headlining tours.
Golden 1 Center confirmed that tickets purchased for the original August 8 date will remain valid for the rescheduled September 9 show, and that refunds are available at the point of purchase. That policy reflects California Business and Professions Code Section 22507, which guarantees full refunds upon request within 30 days when a live event is postponed, per CBS Sacramento. The downtown Sacramento venue, owned by the city and home to the NBA's Kings, can hold roughly 19,000 spectators for concert configurations, according to Wikipedia.
Tour Timeline Now Stretches Past Original Finale
The new September 9 date pushes Boone's Wanted Man Tour beyond its originally planned conclusion. The trek was slated to run from July 7 in Pittsburgh through a September 3 finale at the Ford Wyoming Center in Casper, Wyoming, meaning the rescheduled Sacramento stop now extends the tour nearly a week past its intended wrap-up.
Boone launched the tour behind his second studio album, American Heart, released in June 2025, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and produced Hot 100 entries including “Mystical Magical” and “Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else,” according to Heritage Bank Center. He earned his first Grammy nomination, for Best New Artist, at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards after his 2024 single “Beautiful Things” hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, per Ticketmaster. That song served as the lead single off his debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades.
Regional Ties and a Rockier Stretch of 2026
Boone has made several Northern California stops this year, including a headlining set at San Francisco's Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in February as part of Super Bowl 2026 concert festivities. He also made his Coachella main-stage debut in April 2025, bringing out Queen guitarist Brian May for a viral rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” with the pair later reuniting during the European leg of his tour, according to Heritage Bank Center.
The Sacramento postponement adds to a rockier stretch for Boone's live schedule this year. Earlier in August, organizers of the inaugural Yours Always Music Festival in Salt Lake City — which Boone was set to headline in October — unexpectedly canceled the event without offering a public explanation, with the festival's website and social channels going dark shortly before launch, Hoodline previously reported. For now, Sacramento fans have a firm new date to look forward to, with their existing tickets already valid for the September 9 show at Golden 1 Center.
