Dallas is waking up to clear skies and temperatures around 86 degrees, but this morning will turn dangerously hot in a hurry. The forecast calls for a high near 105, with the heat index reaching 107 as an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m.
Saturday Heat Peaks In The Afternoon
Temperatures are expected to climb from the low 90s late morning to around 105 during the midafternoon. Winds will remain light from the south, and the rain chance is just 8% in Dallas.
A few isolated storms could develop across parts of North Texas later Saturday, especially west of Interstate 35, bringing sudden gusty winds even though most locations stay dry. The National Weather Service says the region’s heat warning covers dangerously hot conditions, with heat-related illnesses becoming significantly more likely.
Triple-Digit Heat Holds Through Next Week
Tomorrow is expected to be even hotter, with a high near 107 and heat index values up to 109. Next Monday and Tuesday should also reach about 107, followed by a high near 106 next Wednesday.
Overnight lows will mostly remain in the low to mid-80s, limiting relief after sunset. Next Thursday brings a small step down to around 103 before next Friday climbs back near 104, while daily rain chances generally stay below 15%.
Plan Outdoor Time Carefully
The heat and low humidity will also increase the risk of new wildfire starts across North and Central Texas through the weekend. Anyone working or exercising outside should aim for early morning or evening hours, take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning, and drink plenty of water.
Residents who need a cooler place or help finding local resources can call 2-1-1 in Texas. The City of Dallas has also publicized summer heat-relief programs, including cooling centers and assistance for residents struggling with electricity costs.
