Charlotte is starting Saturday, August 22, under cloudy skies and patchy fog, but the gray opening will not last. The city should turn partly sunny by late morning and warm to 86 degrees, with light south winds and only a small chance of rain.
Areas of fog are expected before 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The point forecast puts Charlotte’s rain chance at 8%, with any new rainfall likely staying below a tenth of an inch, and no watches, warnings or advisories are posted.
Sunny Sunday And Monday Bring A Brief Break
Saturday night should be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to around 69 degrees. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 87 and a low around 65, followed by another sunny 87-degree day Monday. Drier air should make those two days feel less sticky than the muggy stretch Charlotte has been working through.
Storm Chances Return By Midweek
Tuesday remains mostly sunny with a high near 86, while Wednesday climbs to about 89 with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The wetter turn becomes more noticeable Thursday, when showers and thunderstorms are likely, with a 60% chance of precipitation during the day and again Thursday night.
Friday stays warm near 89 degrees, with another chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The broader region could see an isolated stronger storm Saturday afternoon and evening, mainly near the Blue Ridge and mountains, where gusty winds would be the primary concern.
