Louisville is in for a stormy Monday, with showers and thunderstorms possible before 8 a.m. and again at times through the afternoon. The day will turn partly sunny, but temperatures may still climb into the mid to upper 80s north of the front and upper 80s to low 90s south as summer humidity hangs around.
The Louisville office of the National Weather Service says the early storm cluster could bring brief heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds across the region. The stronger-storm risk is expected to remain low overall, but downpours may briefly reduce visibility.
A Hot, Humid Afternoon Gives Way To Relief
Showers and thunderstorms could continue Monday afternoon, with a break possible Monday evening, while west winds run between 2 and 8 mph. A cold front moving through the area will bring comfortable overnight temperatures in the 60s.
No watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the Louisville forecast area. Even so, people outdoors should keep an eye on changing skies and head inside quickly if thunder moves in.
According to Louisville MSD's 2017 Watershed Master Plan, the plan is intended to manage present and future regional stormwater drainage in Louisville Metro.
Tuesday Looks Like The Reset Button
Tuesday shapes up as the calmest day of the near-term forecast. Expect mostly sunny skies, light north winds and a high near 86, followed by a mostly clear night with a low around 68.
Wednesday should stay dry during the daytime, with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s north of the Parkways before storm chances increase Wednesday night.
Storm Chances Return Midweek
Showers and thunderstorms have 30% to 50% chances from late Wednesday night into early Friday, with temperatures remaining in the 80s Thursday and Friday.
Sunny Weekend Takes Shape
Saturday and Sunday currently look like the best days for parks, patios and other outdoor plans. Both days should see highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s, with lower-end shower and storm chances possible.
