At approximately 1:10am on Saturday May 9th, a as-yet unidentified man was killed in a drive-by shooting on the 500 block of Larkin Street (Update: the man has been identified as Oakland resident Ramon Cruz, 30). Although an ambulance was called to the scene, the victim had been shot in the chest, and was pronounced dead on arrival at San Francisco General Hospital.

According to SFPD spokesman Albie Esparza, the suspect vehicle is a light colored SUV, and the SFPD media recap describes it as a "later model." The SUV fled the scene after the shooting.

SFPD's Homicide team is canvassing the block for any evidence or video surveillance that may exist. According to Officer Esparza, investigators are still working to identify who the suspect(s) might be and what the motive was for the shooting.

Larkin Street is currently under Northern Station's jurisdiction, though that should change this summer, as many in the Tenderloin community have pushed to have Larkin Street included in Tenderloin Station's territory.

Witnesses or anyone who might know more about the incident are urged to contact SFPD at the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
