I stumbled across a two-day pop-up art exhibit at Grand Central Terminal. It’s called “Hello Kongzi,” and will run until February 18th.

The project is a “cultural renewal program,” meant to share and spread knowledge of traditional Chinese culture in a creative way. By doing so, mutual understanding between different ethnic groups is also promoted, especially as the world becomes more intermixed.
The show uses art and cartoon images to spread five Chinese virtues: benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and sincerity. Upon entering, a small army of winking Confucius figurines will greet you at the door:

Then you can make your way through the various booths inside. There is a drawing station, as well as a virtual reality zone where you can participate in a horse-riding experience.

It was a fun detour during my otherwise mundane commute. Check it out if you have the chance!
