No other skyline in the world can compare to the one you find in New York City. Ionic buildings jet into the sky and decorate the horizon at all times; it is truly a breathtaking sight.
Of all of the skyscrapers in Manhattan, my favorite one is the Freedom Tower, or One World Trade Center. Today, it stands close to where the Twin Towers used to exist before the September 11th terrorist attacks.
If you’ve never seen the building in person, it’s difficult to appreciate its beauty and architectural ingenuity. At a quick glance, it looks like any other skyscraper in the area. However, the magic happens when you stand directly below it:
If you view it from a certain angle, the building appears to have no top; it’s seemingly infinite.
Why does this happen? Well, the illusion is caused by the building’s unique antiprism structure that is made with eight isosceles triangles; four are in the upright position and the other four are upside down.
