The Opinionated House Hidden in DUMBO

The Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) historical district is characterized by its network of cobblestone roads and a number of distinctively designed buildings.

Bound by John Street to the north, York Street to the south, Main Street to the west and Bridge Street to the east, the area is a lasting relic of Dumbo’s historical rise as an manufacturing center, which once produced a variety of goods such as paint, coffee and shoes.

A number of industrial buildings still dot the streets, but it's the remaining old-fashion houses that are a particularly interesting tourist attraction. My favorite, an old, wood house painted white, is located close to Plymouth Street near the industrial power plant.

A number of strange signs, old posters and bumper stickers decorate its windows and doors. Most are political statements, but a few are actually comical.

Based on the signs alone, I can imagine the type of person who lives in the house. and I already know I want to be friends with him or her. (Yes, even despite the “Forget the Dog…Beware of Owner” sign.)
