JunXion NYC (junxion.nyc/#landing) is reinventing the entertainment industry. The “mobile venue” brings together art, music and culture to create transcendental (and transportable) parties.
The migratory nature of the operation allows JunXion to create its own celebratory space by utilizing mundane areas, such as streets or parking lots.
The Quetzal Bus is one of many art cars that make up JunXion. The bus, based in Brooklyn, N.Y., is a venue as well as an art project.
For the last three years, it has taken partygoers around the United States to Burning Man, Mardi Gras and a number of other festivals. Aside from serving as a transportation unit, the bus, with its festive paint scheme, also acts as a community home. It brings together strangers from all walks of life while it travels the road.
Unfortunately, after Burning Man 2015, the transmission of the bus was blown. Up until that point, Quetzal had traveled almost 30,000 miles around the country.
To fix the beloved vehicle, a Kickstarter campaign was started to raise the funds needed for repairs. It raked in just over $5,000 in support, which was used to purchase parts and to pay for the cost of labor.
The bus was brought back to life in April and is now ready for action for this summer’s festival season.
When she’s not in use, however, you can find her parked prettily on the streets of Brooklyn.
