Every year, Heritage of Pride organizes a variety of LGBT events in commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which are considered by many to be the beginning of the gay liberation movement.
The events, known collectively as NYC Pride, will be taking place throughout New York City June 19-26.
NYC Pride will kick off with the Pride Luminaries Brunch, which celebrates business leaders that have impacted or worked toward LGBT equality in the workplace. Throughout the week, a series of parties and public gatherings, including PrideFest and The Rally, will also take place.

Indicative of the progress made over the course of roughly five decades, historically disparate communities are now coming together in love.
The First Presbyterian Church (fpcnyc.org/#sthash.wrS4Lxp1.dpbs), known as “Old First,” will be holding its Heritage of Pride Celebration and Service. Visitors are invited to attend the worship service and watch the parade alongside church members. From noon to 5 p.m., volunteers are needed to serve water and cookies to the marchers on behalf of the church.
For the first time ever, the FDNY will also hold a gay pride month celebration at the New York City Fire Museum (nycfiremuseum.org) on Monday.
