Washington Square Park (nycgovparks.org/parks/washington-square-park) is a lot of things. It’s a marsh, a cemetery and a popular tourist attraction all in one.
On nice days, it can become a gathering spot for “avant-garde” artists, and sometimes — OK, a lot of times — it’s a circus.

You’ll almost always find a colorful array of characters here — from the casual fire tosser to the ever-present gang of skateboarders. However, the park transforms into an actual circus every Wednesday when Violet Circus Arts hosts its meet up from 5-7 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join, and free sessions in juggling, unicycling, poi, stilt walking and more are provided.

Juggling enthusiasts can also visit Juggle NYC (jugglenyc.com/clubs.html) for a comprehensive list of juggling meet ups.
