A new market, juice bar and smoothie spot, offering acai bowls and more, has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 755 N Virgil Ave. in East Hollywood, the new addition is called Rick's Produce Market.
Rick's Produce is inspired by the concept of a farmers market, with locally sourced produce and organic goods, plus fresh smoothies and açai bowls. There's the Green Gold Smoothie with avocado, spinach, banana, organic almond milk and local honey, the Delight Date shake with local dates, banana and almond milk, and the seasonal Açai Peachy bowl with açai, local peaches, and orange juice topped with blueberries, organic granola, almonds and local honey.
Rick's Produce has also begun featuring pastries prepared by Homeboy Industries, and will be serving breakfast and lunch with grab-and-go items soon.
The new addition has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp.
Amy S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 8th, said: "I accidentally stumbled upon this place looking for the vegan gelato shop that used to be here. It didn't have vegan gelato but I was very happy with what I found instead."
Yelper Tallara S. added: “So happy to see this new addition to the neighborhood! It's exactly what we needed, fresh produce, and smoothies and Acai bowls! I tried the classic Acai bowl today and it was spot on!”
And Kuusela H. said: "Support local farmers! Try their produce for yourself and see. I'm glad there are some organic local sourced produce options available. The peach acai bowl is delicious."
