A new sushi bar and Japanese and Asian fusion spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The newcomer to The Wilshire Center, called Bento Bae, is located at 621 S Western Ave.

Bento Bae is serving up quick Japense-style bento boxes—in keeping with its namesake—and has a wide variety of grab-and-go options to choose from.

While most bento joints only offer pre-set options, Bento Bae allows you to mix-and-match your favorite sushi combos, katsu (fried chicken or pork cutlets), soba, and udon.

Choose a la carte nigiri and rolls like sake (salmon), maguro (tuna), California rolls, maki-zushi, unagi (eel), and tamago (egg).  There are also popular dishes like katsu curry, kitsune udon, and karaage (fried chicken) on offer.

With a four-star rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp so far, the new sushi bar has made a promising start.

Taylor K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 31st, said: "Bento Bae will make your Bento Day! The Sushi Roll Bento offers you the choice of nine roll/sushi at flat price and is under 15 bucks. A cheap and tasty deal imo. I loved their Unagi Crunch Roll."

And Robert M. said: "Great spot! Friendly service! Will definitely be going back! Their teas are on point."

Head on over to check it out: Bento Bae is open Monday–Saturday from 11am–11pm, and Sunday from 11am–10pm.
